MassMutual Illinois CEO, Jennifer des Groseilliers, Featured on List of Top LGBTQ Executives in Crain’s Chicago Business

08/24/2018

Chicago – On Friday August 24, 2018 Jennifer des Groseilliers joined 87 other top Chicago business leaders in being recognized on Crain’s Chicago Business’s first ever list of Notable LGBTQ Executives. The honorees came from a wide selection of enterprises in finance to technology, academia to advertising, startups to Chicago’s hometown airline and its biggest bank.

The notable executives were selected from nominations submitted by employees, employers, friends and acquaintances. To qualify, honorees met strict guidelines that included being based in the Chicago area, serving in a senior role, holding a leadership position in their industry outside their own organization, creating a significant contribution to advancing workplace equality at their own workplace or beyond and acting as a role model or mentor.

When speaking about why she nominated Jen for the list, Director of Business Development, Jennifer Yeaton said, “When I saw the nomination form, I immediately knew Jen was the perfect fit. She not only met but exceeded each criterion and we are thrilled that others will now have insight into the importance and prominence of her work.”

In a short editorial, Crain’s explained why their decision to highlight these individuals is exceedingly important, stating that companies who openly champion LGBTQ rights reap the benefits in several ways. For example, LGBTQ customers are some of the most loyal consumers in the market and reward companies that advocate for their rights with sizable spending power. Additionally, research shows that companies with LGBTQ-supportive management policies enhance their firm's value, productivity and profitability. Overall, these companies tend do a better job of attracting and retaining top talent.

In talking about her spot of the list, Jen said, “The recognition of notable LGBTQ executives in Chicago is something that has gone unsubstantiated for far too long. I am thrilled to be featured on this historic list from Crain’s Chicago Business, and I look forward to watching the celebration of these executives continue to grow in the future.”
